The Cleveland Leadership Center's 12th Annual Accelerate: Citizens Make Change pitch competition awarded its $5,000 grand prize to LanguageBridge, an extension designed to help K-12 English learners master the language. Finalists were chosen in four other categories, and in the Technovation and Teens Make Change competitions.

AIA Cleveland recently hosted architects Sung Ho Kim and Heather Woofter for an immersive Body of Work lecture at their interdisciplinary firm Axi:Ome. The event showcased their philosophy of using physical model-making as a primary design tool—offering attendees a  glimpse into how architecture is imagined and tested through hands-on experimentation.

The American Institute of Architects Cleveland and Cleveland Metroparks have launched Parkitecture—a lecture series that explores the intersection of design, ecology, and public space within the Metroparks system. The inaugural winter program at Brecksville Reservation examined the evolution of park architecture from the 1939 WPA-era Nature Center to contemporary facilities.

The American Institute of Architects Cleveland recently hosted Cleveland architect Robert Maschke as part of its Body of Work lecture series, where he presented his projects in Gordon Square and Little Italy. Maschke shares his design philosophy of giving small projects the same attention as larger ones, with a focus on context-driven designs that reflect neighborhoods' histories and character.

As we head into the peak of the holiday season, Downtown Cleveland is the place to be for festive lights, decorations, and winter celebrations.

On the first night of Chanukah, Rabbi AJ Bulua and his wife Chaya organized the Light After Dark Menorah Parade, which departed from Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, and traveled through Beachwood, University Heights, and Cleveland Heights before returning to Legacy Village for a grand menorah lighting.

The 20th annual "Remembering the Sights and Sounds of Euclid Beach Park" was held on Sunday, Sept. 28 at Cleveland Metroparks Euclid Beach Park, celebrating the legacy of the amusement park that operated from 1895 to 1969. Visitors enjoyed vintage car displays, historical exhibits, rides in the Euclid Beach Rocket Car, and nostalgic treats while exploring artifacts and memories from the park's heyday.

The Slovenian National Home hosted its third annual Zabava festival, celebrating Cleveland's Slovenian culture and heritage. The free, family-friendly event featured traditional food, music, and activities, including a showcase of the Kurent costume used in the Cleveland Kurentovanje Festival.

The annual Garden Walk Cleveland Heights showcased 54 private gardens for self-guided tours last weekend. Visitors experienced a wide range of garden styles, from traditional English gardens to contemporary art displays, and even a treehouse, highlighting the creativity and diversity of Cleveland Heights' gardening community.

The historic Euclid Beach Arch in Cleveland has been relocated as part of a renovation project spearheaded by local officials. The 1921 wooden structure, which once served as the entrance to Euclid Beach Park, will become the centerpiece of a new public park and preserve the iconic piece of Cleveland's history, is scheduled for completion in 2026.
