Bringing jobs to Fairfax: FRDC’s monthly hiring events connect residents to work

Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation (FRDC) has been quietly connecting neighbors with employment opportunities for years now through regular monthly hiring events that bring employers directly to the community.

What to expect at hiring events
FRDC’s hiring events are a little different each week, says  FRDC workforce specialist Tamela Powell, but there are a few points to keep in mind before attending:

  • Direct access to employers
  • On-site applications
  • Potential same-day interviews
  • Support with resumes and applications
  • Connections to training and career pathways
When attending the events, Powell recommends attendees research the featured company ahead of time and come prepared. She also concedes that walk-in candidates who may simply be looking for opportunities are welcome.
