Towards Employment (TE), the non-profit workforce development agency that champions the potential of every person—regardless of their backgrounds—and prepares them to gain meaningful employment, will celebrate the power of Cleveland’s people with “A Work & Reentry Experience” on Tuesday, October 7 at the new state-of-the-art Martin Luther King Jr. campus of the Cleveland Public Library, 10601 Euclid Ave. in University Circle.
The Towards Employment “A Work & Reentry ExperienceThe free event will feature live music with acclaimed jazz artist Dominick Farinacci and a storytelling experience by three TE alumni—Ronnie Cannon, Linda Butts, and Greg Reaves—who will share their experiences overcoming challenges and achieving triumphs in their paths to work and successful reentry.
Dominick Farinacci is the recipient of the 2022 Cleveland Arts Prize, a TED Speaker, and headliner in the 2023 Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland.
Farinacci is also co-creator of the national touring production Modern Warrior LIVE—an immersive music and narrative experience that chronicles the story of U.S. Army veteran Jaymes Poling and his journey through three deployments in Afghanistan and subsequent transition back home.
Acclaimed jazz artist Dominick Farinacci will perform and present his Modern Warrior LIVE.This is the third year Towards Employment has partnered with Farinacci to bring Clevelanders’ career journeys to life on stage. Through music, images, and storytelling, organizers will highlight the resilience and triumphs of Ronnie, Greg, and Linda—who have overcome justice system involvement, family tragedy, and self-doubt to move into confidence, stability, and hope.
“We are privileged to witness the extraordinary commitment and creativity of Dominick and his world-class musical team,” says TE president and CEO Jill Rizika. “With respect and artistry, they amplify each storyteller’s words, allowing their voices to reach and inspire our community in ways otherwise unimaginable.”
Cleveland Municipal Court judge Suzan Sweeney will moderate a panel with the storytellers, adding her own insights into reentry and second chances. Rizika says the stories of work and transformation inspire change.
“This collaboration lifts up the strength and hope that lie within our community,” she says.

The evening begins with a light, communal dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the performance at 7 p.m. Tickets are free, but seating is limited. Please reserve tickets as soon as possible.
