The FreshWater stories behind the headlines

Two weeks ago, we asked you to support independent journalism by supporting FreshWater Cleveland.

Today, we'd like to share why that support matters.

Every week, FreshWater tells stories that might otherwise go untold. We introduce readers to neighborhood leaders working to improve their communities. We spotlight artists, entrepreneurs, educators, and residents who are making a difference. We report on innovative programs, community investments, and creative solutions to local challenges.

Most of these stories never make national headlines. Some don't even make regional headlines.

But they matter.

They matter to the entrepreneur opening a business in a neighborhood. They matter to the artists creating opportunities for young people. They matter to the residents working together to strengthen their their neighborhood, Cleveland, and Northeast Ohio neighborhoods.

Since 2010, FreshWater has been committed to telling these stories because we believe local journalism should reflect the people who live, work, create, and lead in our communities.

If you've discovered a neighborhood event through FreshWater, learned about a local changemaker, or gained a new perspective on Cleveland through our reporting, we hope you'll consider supporting our work.

Your investment helps ensure these stories continue to be told.
