Cosmic Glow: CVNP Conservancy, Museum of Creative Human Art launch eclipse-inspired exhibit

The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Arts Organization in Residence Museum of Creative Human Art (MOCHA) last week announced a partnership between the two organizations, in which MOCHA will curate exhibits in the Conservancy’s The Gallery, provide programming, and support arts integration into the visitor experience throughout the year.

Cosmic GlowCosmic GlowThe first exhibit curated by MOCHA—Cosmic Glow—opens Saturday, March 30 and features the works of five Northeast Ohio artists inspired by transformative potential of the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8.

The artists are Cleveland artists Aja Joi Grant and Chen Peng, Hiram artist Amber D. Kempthorn, Litchfield artist Lyanne Torres, and Cleveland Institute of Art student Theadis Reagins. The exhibit was curated by Akron-based Thea Spittle

“The artists in this exhibition truly demonstrate how color, material and composition all impact our perception,” MOCHA leadership Antwoine Washington and Michael Russell II said in a statement. “Through this grouping of artwork, we can closely observe the individual elements of the eclipse to better understand it, deconstructing it into sun, moon, light, and shadow. We hope you will stop by The Gallery to experience Cosmic Glow.”

Cosmic Glow runs through May 27 at The Gallery, 1565 Boston Mills Road, Peninsula. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with special hours from March 30 to April 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and on April 8 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Ats Organization in Residence is funded through the Conservancy for CVNP's Arts in the Park initiative, which is supported by the Ohio Arts Council, the Lehner Family Foundation, Akron Community Foundation through the Community Wish Book initiative, Sally and Larry Sears, as well as Richard and Jean Hoffman.
