For many dads, styling their daughters' hair seems harder than rocket science.
Pints and Ponytails will be held in the new library at the Venue at StoneWaterFortunately, a local golf course is equipping dads with a brush, a burger, and perhaps a beer in an effort to teach them how to do their daughters’ hair.
StoneWater Golf Club hosts its first ever “Pints & Ponytails” event on Tuesday, June 23, when fathers can learn hair styling techniques from knowledgeable instructors.
“Pints & Ponytails” will take place at The Venue at StoneWater, 1 Club Drive, in Highland Heights. LaBarberia Institute of Hair will lead the hands-on hairstyling tutorial from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
LaBarberia, a beauty college in Mayfield Heights that offers programs for aspiring barbers and skincare professionals looking to get licensed or certified, will take its expertise to StoneWater so LaBarberia instructors can teach fathers how to do ponytails, braids, and pigtails.
The word “pints” in the event title “Pints & Ponytails” actually has a double meaning: Fathers learn how to do hair on their “pint-sized” daughters while enjoying a complementary “pint” of beer.
One free beer, seltzer, or non-alcoholic drink is provided to participants. After the first drink, guests are welcome to purchase additional drinks from the bar. On the menu for dinner is a smash burger, fries, and a cookie.

Goody bags filled with hair accessories will be passed out to fathers so they can showcase their new skills to their daughters at home.
LaBarberia, which specializes in training barbers and beauty professionals, now turns to training fathers at “Pints & Ponytails.” They will provide mannequins and hair tools for their demonstrations on how to make simple ponytails, braids, and pigtails.
Inspiration & impact
Lindsey Neidus, StoneWater chief marketing and development officer, says that the idea for “Pints & Ponytails” is inspired by a similar event at a pub in London, which she discovered on Instagram.
When Neidus and her colleagues saw the British event, they fell in love with the idea.
Neidus says she loves how this event concept helps fathers become more confident in doing their daughters' hair while also creating a new bonding opportunity for fathers and daughters.
Neidus herself is one of three daughters. She chuckled when reminiscing on her father’s lack of hair expertise.
“I remember one time my mom was out of town, and my dad had to do our hair. We just thought it was hilarious,” she recalls. “Especially at that time in the late eighties, he didn't have any idea how to do a ponytail.”
“Pints & Ponytails” helps teach a new generation of fathers how to do even the simplest of hairstyles.
Neidus is especially excited about this event now that she and her husband welcomed their first child into the world just a few weeks ago. She says that this event is perfect since their new baby is a girl. Despite their baby’s lack of hair, Neidus’ husband is planning to go to “Pints & Ponytails” to learn hairstyling tricks for the future.
StoneWater's Lindsey Neidus and her husband, Charles, just had their baby Sloane. Charles plan to attend the event.“It's such a fun idea and a great way for dads to feel more confident about doing hair and to also, more importantly, be able to connect with their daughters in the morning or before special events,” says Neidus. She also notes that the event is a great way for the dads to connect with other dads.
Neidus says the skills learned at “Pints & Ponytails” will be perfect for fathers to use before school, sports, holidays, dances, and other events.
“It's such a nice moment for dads to be able to spend with their daughters, even if it's just a couple minutes in the morning before they go to school,” she says. “Just being able to sit there and brush their hair and feel confident that you can do a ponytail, braid, or pigtails.”
The skills the dads will learn at “Pints & Ponytails” will not only provide more quality time with their daughters, but they will also walk away able to create cute and practical hairstyles for their daughters.
Thanks to “Pints & Ponytails” fathers can tackle hairstyling all while connecting with other fathers and making an impression on their daughters.
The cost of the event is $55, plus tax and gratuity. To register, email Whitney Neidus, Venue at StoneWater general manager, or call (440) 461-4653, ext. 232.
