Canal Basin Park hosts free summer events at Riverfront Park through September 

Canalway Partners brings tours, music, bike rides, theater performances, and community events to Canal Basin Park this summer, creating new opportunities for Clevelanders to experience the downtown riverfront.

Cleveland Shakespeare Festival.Cleveland Shakespeare Festival.Since June, Canal Basin Park has host history tours, a monthly bike ride, music events, a community picnic, and downtown’s only performances of the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival.

“As plans continue with the City of Cleveland for the full development of Canal Basin Park, we invite people to discover new experiences in the place where Cleveland began,” says Canalway Partners executive director Mera Cardenas. “Between history tours and live performances, Canalway hopes you’ll make a new memory at this iconic riverfront spot.”

The summer schedule at Canal Basin Park include:

  • Cleveland Shakespeare Festival: Friday, July 24. See the “Comedy of Errors” and “Richard III” against the backdrop of the Cuyahoga River.
  • Cycle Canalway: Sunday, July 19, Sunday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, September 20. Social guided bike rides highlighting Canal Basin Park’s trail connections.
  • No Shade DJ Sets: Sunday, July 19 and Sunday, Sept. 20 (tentative). Join Rump Studio for a daytime party with live, outdoor DJ sets on the lawn in Canal Basin Park.
  • Sunday Night Sweeps: Beginning Sunday, Sept. 27. Inspired by Canalway’s annual RiverSweep, the volunteer litter cleanup in Canal Basin Park will “sweep” up the space after Browns home games on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., starting on Sunday, September 27.
All events are free and open to the public. Registration is requested for Cycle Canalway bike rides. Public parking is available at 989 West St.
