Garlic is king at the 14th annual Cleveland Garlic Festival

All things garlic will rule Shaker Square this weekend, when the 14th annual Cleveland Garlic Festival takes over the streets on Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27.

There will be plenty of food, live music, entertainment, and activities for children—all to benefit the nonprofit North Union Farmers Market and its nine certified producer-only farmers markets in Northeast Ohio that champion local healthy foods and farmers.

Crowd favorites at the Garlic Festival include the Top Chef Garlic Grill-Off competition, Mitchell’s Garlic Ice Cream, cooking demonstrations, a parade with Miss Garlic 2023 (Lauren DeProfio) and her fairy princess court, live music from 12 bands over the two days, and the Mighty Locavores Kids Zone. Don’t forget the garlic fries and local craft beers, too!

“We invite you to immerse yourself in a weekend of garlic – come enjoy wine and Ohio Cheese Guild selections or local brews and garlic fries,” says North Union Farmers Market executive director Donita Anderson. “Cleveland Garlic Festival is an urban county fair.”

The Mighty Locavore Kids Zone will feature Flower the Clown, face painting, bubbles, petting zoos, Crooked River Circus, and more.

Festival hours are Saturday, Aug. 26 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 27 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors aged 65 and older, and $5 for children four to 12 years old. Children under age four are free.
