Fashion Talks Foundation's 'The Runway' in Playhouse Square.More than 1,700 people who were dressed to be seen on Sunday, June 7, lined Euclid Avenue under the iconic chandelier in Playhouse Square to witness “The Runway” event, presented by Fashion Talks Foundation (FTF).
The event, which celebrates culture, commerce, and community, was the first outdoor fashion show for FTF and included a fashion exhibition, vendor booths, raffles, and a photo booth.
Now in its sixth year, FTF is dedicated to empowering diverse and emerging talent as well as students in the fashion and creative industries.
By providing opportunities through various initiatives, it is creating platforms for collaboration, professional growth, and innovation. FTF fosters inclusivity by connecting underrepresented voices with leaders in the fashion industry—offering mentorship and facilitating real-world experiences.
Fashion Talks Foundation’s goal is to uplift the next generation of entrepreneurs, designers, and creatives to create a more equitable and dynamic industry for everyone.
Produced by FTF founder and fashion entrepreneur Aimon Ali, FOX-8 TV’s Stefani Schaefer emceed the event. City of Cleveland representatives honored Ali for her groundbreaking work elevating the art of fashion in Northeast Ohio.
A performance by six Cleveland Ballet dancers opened the show.
The fashion show opened with three unique designs from Arte Regina of Surabaya, Indonesia, followed by a collection of haute couture gowns and evening dresses by Cienna Tenn, a Kent State University School of Fashion (KSU) student.
Additionally, Fashion Talks interns curated their favorite delicate pieces wrapped with fresh foliage displays and head dressings. Canada was represented by the SW Collection from Toronto.
KSU fashion design student Amira Peruch creates rich colorful gowns that feature flowy, draping fabrics embellished with lace, silk, and sequins. One design undoubtedly inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
The Dillard’s department store team at Great Lakes Mall curated a festive collection of summer wear for both men and women, followed by artistic creations on view at the Darl Center for the Arts.
The evening concluded with the Foundation’s signature Ladies of Influence segment, which spotlighted inspiring women shaping the Northeast Ohio community.
Honorees included Joevrose Bourdeau-Small, director of economic development for the City of Cleveland; Kristin Warzocha, president and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank; Kortney Morrow, program director of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards; author and licensed counselor Stacey Diane Aranez Litam; and Sarah Martin of Playhouse Square.
FTF’s Ali shared her gratitude with every designer, model, hair and makeup artist, volunteer, intern, sponsor, photographer, videographer, and attendee who helped make The Runway possible.
“What started as an idea became a reality because of all of you,” she told the guests. “Together, we once again brought high fashion to the streets of Cleveland and created something truly special.”
